Women’s Lacrosse Struts by Regis

NASHUA, NH: Rivier women's lacrosse won against Regis College this afternoon in conference play on Joanne Merrill Field.   

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/26/23

- Score: Rivier 15, Regis 5

- Records: Rivier (3-2, 2-2 GNAC), Regis (4-3, 2-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Regis would score first with a goal recorded by Madeline Conover in the first quarter. Rivier then went on to put away six goals. Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, MA) got the scoring started for the Raiders with an assist from Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH). Cassie Hemmerdinger (Pelham, NH) earned the second goal, then Lachance from Bailey Carroll (Nashua, NH), Hemmerdinger from Ashley Wilder (Milford, NH), Lachance from Carroll again, and Newell with the final Riv goal in the first quarter. On a free position shot, Kylee Marley of the Pride knocked in a goal, chipping away at the score.

- In the second quarter, Rivier scored three goals in a row. At 13:23, Lachance found Carroll who buried a Raiders goal. Rivier's Newell escaped the Pride defenders to score with another assist credited to Lachance. Lachance then went on to score her own goal with Rachel Hinkley (Swedesboro, NJ) on the assist. Regis put in two goals about 20 seconds apart, one from Mia Rogers on a free position shot and another from Conover.

- In the third quarter, Abby Nadeau (Newbury, NH) took advantage on the player up opportunity to score a Raiders goal with an assist granted to McKenna Green (Lowell, MA). Newell raced by Regis to score an unassisted goal at 12:48 on the clock. Lachance put away a player up goal to finish out the quarter.

- Newell was able to find the back of the net when the Raiders were down a player at 14:21 in the fourth quarter, the assist was credited to Lachance. Carroll earned a Riv goal, putting the Raiders up by 10. Newell passed to Lachance who scored the last goal of the game for the Raiders. Rogers of Regis added on a goal from a free position shot at 4:41.

- Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) of Rivier recorded 11 saves this afternoon to earn the win. Daniela Mazo of Regis saved nine shots in goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Shots: Regis 30, Rivier 27

- Ground Balls: Rivier 31, Regis 24

- Penalties: Rivier received 3 yellow cards, Regis received 2 yellow cards
