MSOC: Lasers fall to Cadets in GNAC clash

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell University Lasers men's soccer team fell in their conference matchup against the Norwich College Cadets, 7-0, at Taylor Field.

Norwich got on the board in the 3rd minute when junior Joseph Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.) threaded a through ball onto the feet of senior Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.), who took three dribbles and placed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Less than two minutes later the Cadets added a second by freshman Cullen Swett (Williston, Vt.). Following a free kick on the left wing a low ball was played into the box and it bounced around until it found the feet of Cullen at the back post who tapped it in.

The 7th minute saw the Cadets add again to their lead. Thongsythavong stood over a free kick on the left side about 35 yds out where he curled a ball towards the penalty spot that found the head of sophomore Lami Lashua (Williston, Vt.). Lashua directed the ball at the keeper who got a hand on it but could not keep it out. In the 30th minute Nemeye took the ball away from the defense right outside the box and powered it into the right-side netting. The 43rd minute saw Nemeye score his hat-trick after he received a pass from junior Mateo Iagrossi (Schenectady, N.Y.).

Senior Andree Hernandez (Cancun, Mexico) put the ball home after senior Ryan Mckee (Oneonta, N.Y.) dribbled down the end line past two defenders before centering to Hernandez for the goal. Hernandez added a second to his total in the 83rd minute as dribbled around the keeper and put it home after receiving a through ball from Swett.

The Lasers will be back in action on Wednesday September 15 when they will take on Rivier in a GNAC match with a 4:00 p.m kickoff. Norwich will next take on Castleton in a non-conference match with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
