Men's Basketball Takes Down the Monks, 81-64

STANDISH, ME: The Anna Maria men's basketball completed the night with a dominant road victory against GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's College, 81-64.  

 THE BASICS:

Score: Anna Maria 81, SJC 64

Records: SJC (8-12, 2-4 GNAC), Anna Maria (7-13, 4-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS took the lead from the very first basket and never looked back. They opened the game on an 18-5 run eating away seven minutes of the first half. The Monks would trim the lead to just six but it would end there as Anna Maria regained control and stopped the home squads rally. The AMCATS largest lead throughout the first half was 13 points as they took a 10-point lead into the locker room, 40-30.  Bobby Perette (Marshfield, MA) led the squad at the intermission with 14 points.

-  The 'CATS quickly pushed their lead out to 14 to start the second half and saw their lead peak at 15 in the second half. St Joe's wouldn't be able to regain any ground throughout the second half to close the gap as the Anna Maria outscored them 41-34.

-  The second half success for the AMCATS came from Ralph Grasso (Marlborough, MA) and Mike Rapoza (Charlton, MA) who both tallied 12 points.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Nicholas Curtis finished with a game high 35 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.

-  Grasso had the team high for Anna Maria with 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

-  Rapoza had 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting with 8 boards.

- Perette fell just one rebound shy of completing a double-double as he had 19 points and 9 rebounds.

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 8th as they return home to face the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales at 1:00 PM.
