Men's Basketball Slips to Emmanuel, 95-82

PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Men's Basketball team fell to the Saints of Emmanuel College this evening in GNAC play, 95-82.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/29/20

Score: Emmanuel 95, Anna Maria 82

Records: Emmanuel (15-3, 3-1 GNAC), Anna Maria (6-12, 3-2 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS opened the game on a 6-0 run to start the game. The Saints quickly closed that gap to gain and maintain a slight lead for six minutes in the first half. After that, it was bucket for bucket as the two squads battled for the lead. Ultimately the half ended with Emmanuel holding a three-point advantage going into the locker room.

-  The second half started the same way with both teams going back and forth until they tied it up at 53 all. After that, it was all the Saints. After the tie Emmanuel went on a huge 19-2 run to secure them a comfortable lead.  

-  The AMCATS did close the gap some in the last 2 minutes of the game with a spark from Edwin Woods (Arlington, MA) who came into the game late and hit all four of the shots he took including going 2-2 from behind the three-point line for 10 total points.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Emmett Riddick had the game high in points with 29 total to go with 3 assists and 4 rebounds.

-  Marcus Fox finished with a double-double for the Saints with 11 rebounds and 24 points.

-  Bobby Perette (Marshfield, MA) had 21 points which was good for a team high for the 'CATS.

- Mike Rapoza (Charlton, MA) had his own double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds.

- Sean Etienne (Lawrence, MA) dropped a solid 19 points from off the bench along with 2 rebounds.

- Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday as they travel up to take on Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 PM.
