Figueroa Dishes Out 30 Kills in Tri-Match Losses

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Elms College women's volleyball team fell short in both matches in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri- match on Saturday, falling to the Simmons Sharks and the Johnson & Wales Wildcats.

How it Happened
The Blazers nearly rallied for a set victory in the second set coming within striking distance falling only 4 points short. The Blazers were unable to secure a match point, falling to a 0-3 (12-25, 21-25, 19-25) final against the Simmons Sharks. Elms' first year Jaylen Holman secured another double double with 27 assists and 12 digs. Senior Jaylianne Ramos Figueroa logging a total of 14 killsagainst the Sharks, leading the Blazers in the three sets.


Elms was unble to keep the sets as close in the first two sets against the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, but rallied in the third almost clinching the set win falling four points short. The Blazers would settle to a 0-3 loss to the Wildcats (18-25, 16-25, 21-25). Figueroa led the Blazers in kills with 16 in the match, Holman logged a total of 19 assists, and Laura Jensen led the leader board in digs.

The Blazers hit the road Tuesday October 11th, as they head to Colby Sawyer to face off the Chargers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at 7PM in the Dan and Kathleen Hogan Sports Center.
