Lasers Come From Behind to Hand Emmanuel First Loss of Season
NEWTON, MA- Mike Skelton (Conway, NH) headed in the game-winning goal for Lasell College men's soccer in a come-from-behind, 2-1, victory over Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition today on Taylor Field.  The Lasers remain unbeaten with a 4-0-1 record, as well as a 2-0 conference slate, while the Saints were handed their first loss of the 2011 campaign and stand at 2-1-4 overall and 1-1 in GNAC play.

Lasell fell behind early after Saints senior midfielder Mathew Koenemann (Montpelier, VT) scored on a penalty kick at 13:26 after a foul was committed by the Lasers within their eighteen yard box.  Koenemann lodged the ball in the back of the net past Lasell goalie Aren Moorman (Somerset, NJ) to produce the early advantage.

Lasell played catch up for the following 32 minutes of the first half, carrying the load of the work down in Emmanuel's back field.  Lasell bombarded the net, and Emmanuel's keeper Wilhelm Du Bois (Key Bescayne, FL) with 13 shots in the half, while allowing the Saints just four in the half.  Despite the edge in shots, the Lasers were unable to level the score by halftime and the visitors enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break.

It took the hosts just over 10 minutes into the second half to make their mark and bring the score to a 1-all tie.  In the 55th minute, Lasell's Cedric Dybaud (Quincy, MA) unloaded a pass to freshman forward Noel Rix (Rya, NH) from across the sideline.  Rix thrust the shot into the top ninety of the left side of the net from nine yards out to make it a level playing field once again.

Lasell continued their assault on the Saints net which paid off at 82:11 when Skelton headed into goal a pass from outside the eighteen off the foot of Nery Guerra (Guatemala City, Gaut.).  The go-ahead goal would prove the game winner in the resurgence victory for Lasell.

Lasell only let up three shots attempts by Emmanuel in the second half while taking nine of their own.   Moorman earned his fourth win of the season making three stops in the goal while Du Bois collected nine saves in the defeat.

Lasell will travel to Clark University on Wednesday, September 21st for a night non-conference contest under the lights at 6:30 p.m.
