Men's Basketball: Raiders topped by Saint Joseph's, 99-69

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered a 99-69 setback this evening to visiting Saint Joseph's College (Me.) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sets the Raiders back to an overall record of 3-14 and 0-4 in the conference while the Monks climb closer to .500 overall at 8-10 and 2-2 against the league.

Senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) recorded the game-high with 26 points scored on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor. Both senior Joshua O'Loughlin (Milford, N.H.) and freshman Nikolas Pignone (Stoneham, Mass.) finished with 10 points each and sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass.) pulled down the team-high of six rebounds.

Saint Joseph's was guided by the double-double effort of junior Jack Castle (Portland, Maine), who matched Chappell with 26 points scored while collecting the game-high of 15 rebounds. Sophomores Nicholas Curtis (Windham, Maine) and Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) each added 18 points apiece and junior Tatsuaki Sakai (Ishikawa, Japan) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points in the victory.

Both squads will return to GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will travel to Lasell University for a 3pm scheduled tip-off while the Monks travel to Norwich University with a 1pm game-time.
