Volleyball Deals Simmons First GNAC Loss of the Season

BOSTON, MA: Rivier women's volleyball rose to the occasion tonight in their biggest game of the season in conference action. The Raiders took down Simmons University who was undefeated in GNAC play prior to tonight's match.   

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/13/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Simmons 1 (25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20)

- Records: Rivier (15-4, 5-0 GNAC), Simmons (12-7, 6-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  With two very evenly matched teams, the numbers show just that. The difference in this one lies with the Raiders serving as they topped the Sharks with 12 aces to their five and their defense which amazed 64 digs to Simmons 47.

- Rivier's offense was led by graduate outside hitter Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT). The GNAC Player of the Week tallied a match-high 20 kills, along with a team-high 14 digs. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) dished out 38 assists to go along with her 12 digs and four kills.

- The Sharks Claire Conners and Jayla Parnell did all they could to keep the scores close with 30 kills combined between the two. Conners had the team-high with 16 kills, and Parnell had 14. Kat Simeonidis matched Pollard in assists with 38.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 46, Simmons 45

-  Assists: Simmons 44, Rivier 42

-  Digs: Rivier 64, Simmons 47
