Men's Basketball: Raiders top Lesley, 93-82 for first win of the season

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Men's Basketball team pulled out a 93-82 victory this afternoon over visiting Lesley University in a non-conference contest held inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win evens out the Raiders overall record at 1-1 while the Lynx remain winless at 0-2.

For the second consecutive game, senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) led the Raiders with 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass.) added 19 points while handing out six assists and freshman Kevin Redler (Ellington, Conn.) registered his first double-digit effort of his career with 10 points. Junior Jack McCarthy (Rowley, Mass.) pulled down seven rebounds to lead the team and freshman Nesta Roberts (Manchester, Conn.) recorded two blocked shots in his 17 minutes of action.

Lesley saw junior Chase Howard (San Diego, Calif.) net the game-high of 28 points as the veteran shot 9-for-13 from the floor while collecting five rebounds. Classmate Kostas Tatsis (Athens, Greece) chipped in with a 20-point, eight rebound effort and fellow junior Kyle Murphy (West Warwick, R.I.) pumped in 12 points in the loss for the Lynx.

Rivier will return to action on Wednesday night as they host Brandeis University for a 7pm non-conference affair at the Muldoon. Lesley will remain on the road as they travel to New Haven, Connecticut for a non-conference game at Albertus Magnus College. Game time is set for 7pm.
