New Haven, CT - Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) and senior guard Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) combined for 45 points on 14-22 shooting including 13-16 from the free-throw line as the Falcons defeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Emerson College on Saturday afternoon 85-75.
The Falcons held a 42-30 lead at halftime and led for most of the contest. Sophomore guard Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT/Hartford Public) added 15 points for Albertus who outrebounded Emerson 35-29 on the night.
Askew scored a game high 24 points on 7-8 shooting including 10-12 from the free throw line in just 22 minutes as he sat most of the first half with early foul trouble.
Emerson received a strong game from senior guard Tom Messinger (FLorence, MA/Deerfield Academy) as he scored a team high 18 points on 6-9 shooting. Senior center Kabir Moss (Chico, CA/Chico) added 16 points and a game high eight rebounds.
The Falcons improve to 11-9, 9-4 GNAC while Emerson College drops to 8-12, 5-8 GNAC.
Albertus hosts GNAC opponent Mount Ida College on Tuesday night at 5:30 pm.
