Maria Spylios enters her first year as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's Social Media Specialist.

Spylios’ duties will include social media management, coordination of the GNAC’s efforts to celebrate DIII week on social platforms, assisting with weekly player of the week communications and reports and All-Conference selections, attending and assisting with event planning for championship events, and direct supervision of an undergraduate social media intern.

During her undergraduate years, Spylios interned at the University of Massachusetts Boston, handling sport information duties. After graduating in May of 2023 with a BA in Sport Leadership and Administration and a minor in economics, she worked as a sports information assistant and an administrative assistant at UMass Boston. During this time, Spylios was responsible for directing and producing all of UMass Boston's home broadcasts, assisting with game day operations, and updating the website with schedules, rosters, and media coverage. She was also in charge of scheduling all meetings for the Athletic Director and helped coordinate team dinners and staff outings. In addition to this, she built itineraries for interview candidates coming to campus and booked hotels and travel as needed.

Spylios was the starting goalkeeper at UMass Boston for all four years. During her freshman year she helped the team secure their first Little East Conference Championship since 2012 and made an appearance at the NCAA Tournament. She went on to set several UMass Boston Goalkeeping Records including matches played (career), minutes played (career), goals against average (season), shutouts (season and career), and wins (season and career). She was also named to the All LEC Second Team (2x) and the All LEC Third Team (1x). In addition to this, Spylios was named to the LEC Fall All-Academic Team and the LEC Fall Honor Roll all four years. Spylios was also awarded the 2023 Athlete of the Year award at UMass Boston.
