Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Report - Week 5
Offensive Player of the Week
Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine), Senior, Middle
Blocker, Saint Joseph’s College (ME)
Hawkes enjoyed another tremendous week, as the senior
middle blocker tallied 43 kills and 43 digs with a .267 attack
percentage in three matches. She registered 10 kills, 10 digs and
five aces in a 3-0 triumph over Maine-Farmington on Thursday and
produced 33 kills, 33 digs and six total blocks in a GNAC tri-match
split at Johnson & Wales on Saturday.
Defensive Players of the Week
Giselle Cram-Ortiz (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico),
Junior, Libero, Johnson & Wales University
Cram-Ortiz continued her remarkable play as a libero this
season, averaging 6.44 digs per set to help the Wildcats to a 2-2
record on the week. The junior notched 32 digs in the Wildcats
thrilling 3-2 victory over St. Joseph's of Maine and over the four
matches, recording an incredible 114 digs.
Rookie of the Week
Emily O’Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.),
Freshman, Setter, Rivier University
The first year player from San Francisco California
continues to direct the Raider offense in an impressive fashion by
leading Rivier to a perfect 9-0 in sets played all while averaging
9.33 assists/set for the week. The Raiders hit for .204 on the week
with O'Reilly running the show. Emily also stepped up the defense
by averaging 2.0 digs/set in the three victories.
