Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Report - Week 4
Player of the Week
O’Kyle Corridon (Selden, N.Y.), Sophomore,
Midfielder, Johnson & Wales University
Corridon enjoyed a solid week collecting seven total
points on two goals and three assists to help the Wildcats post a
pair of GNAC victories. The midfielder scored a pair of goals and
assisted on the game-winner in JWU’s 3-2 overtime victory
against Emerson College and followed that up with two assists in
the team’s 7-0 road win over Anna Maria on
Saturday.
Rookie of the Week
James Ames (West Hartford, Conn.), Freshman,
Forward, Mount Ida College
Ames helped the Mustangs compile a 2-0 record on the
week, recording five points on two goals and one assist. The rookie
scored a goal to go along with a helper in Mount Ida’s 5-1
victory over Anna Maria and followed it up with the game-winning
goal in a 2-1 victory over Newbury later in the week.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Greg Payne (State College, Pa.), Sophomore,
Goalkeeper, Norwich University
Payne was instrumental in helping Norwich to a 0-0 tie
against league-leading Albertus Magnus. The sophomore made seven
saves while earning a shutout to stifle the high-powered AMC
offense despite the Falcons holding a 26-10 shot advantage. Payne
currently leads the GNAC in goals against average (0.37 GAA) and
save percentage (.900).
