Simmons' Courteney Collier Earns ECAC D.III Pitcher of the Week

Simmons College senior captain, Courteney Collier, was honored as the Pitcher of the week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for her spectacular performance last week. The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is the nation’s largest athletic conference and only multi-divisional conference, with approximately 300 member institutions and over 122,000 student-athletes ranging from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois.

Collier accomplished a 3-0 record on the weekend with a 0.44 ERA. She pitched 16 innings and gave up only seven hits and one earned run while striking out 27 batters. She held opponents to a 0.127 batting average as the Sharks went an undefeated 6-0 on the weekend against Mount Ida, Emerson and Albertus Magnus. Collier’s top performance came against previously undefeated Emerson in a 2-0 shutout win, where Collier also had a solo game-winning home run. Offensively, Collier batted .500 on the weekend with a 0.714 slugging percentage. Additionally, Collier has been named a two-time GNAC Pitcher of the Week this season.
