GNAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 5

(FOR THE WEEK OF DEC. 3-9)

	PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Suffolk (So., G - Falmouth, Mass.) DiCecco averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals as the Rams went 2-0 last week. She shot 44.7% (17-38 FG, 9-18 3PT, 2-6 FT) overall, registering 22 points, with 12 boards and five helpers against Fitchburg State before producing 23 points, six boards and five assists against Framingham State.
	ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Mary Casamassa, Norwich (Fr., G/F - Wexford, Pa.) Casamassa averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Cadets. She dropped a career-high 26 points against No. Vermont-Lyndon, shooting 11-of-17 from the field to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Overall, she shot 46.4% for the week.

WEEK 5 HONOR ROLL
Rah Rah Thompson, Albertus Magnus (Jr., C/F - Bridgeport, Conn.) - Thompson averaged 17.0 points and 13.3 rebounds while shooting 71% (22-31 FG) overall to help lead the Falcons to a 2-1 week. She also recorded double-doubles in all three games to improve her season total to seven. Thompson began the week with a 19-point, 12-rebound performance in a win over Salem State before posting 17 points and 16 boards in a loss to Westfield State. The junior finished out the week scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win over Pine Manor. 

Lexie Hamilton, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, G - Sunapee, N.H.) - Hamilton averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 11.0 assists and 5.0 steals in a 2-0 week on the road for the Chargers. The junior began the week with 16 points, 10 assists, seven boards and five steals in a 79-48 win at Pine Manor before posting her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 assists to go with six rebounds and again five swipes in a 58-42 win at Dean. She moved into fifth place on Colby-Sawyer's all-time assists list during the week. 

Maddie McLaughlin, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, G - Westerly, R.I.) - McLaughlin averaged 21.3 points and 5.7 assists in a 2-1 week, opening the week with a career-high 36 points (11-19 FG, 8-12 3PT, 6-8 FT) in an impressive road victory over the NESCAC's Connecticut College. She also had 12 points and seven assists in just 15 minutes against Pine Manor and 16 points in a loss at MIT. 

Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, G - Cambridge, Mass.) - Ramirez continued her solid play by averaging 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds for Emmanuel in a 2-1 week. The junior posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds vs. MIT and opened the week with a 13-point, 12-rebound outing in a victory over Connecticut College. 

Vanessa Fleury, Norwich (Sr., F - Lebanon, N.H.) - Averaged a double-double of 10.5 points (9-15 FG) and 10.5 rebounds per game in Norwich's 1-1 week. She put up 12 points and eight rebounds against NVU-Lyndon and nine points 13 rebounds against Castleton. 

Emily Benway, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, F - Rochester, N.H.) - Benway shot 63.9% (23-26 FG) from the field and averaged 17.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The senior forward netted 28 points off a 12-of-17 shooting performance with 10 rebounds in a 73-58 victory over Colby on Thursday. 

Cassandra Stapelfeld, Simmons (Sophomore, G - Brookline, N.H.) - In a 1-1 week, the sophomore averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 46.2% (12-26 FG, 10-13 FT). The guard scored 17 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and four steals in a road setback to Dean.
