Meet Protocols
Entries
- Each swimmer is allowed a total of eight (8) entries with no more than four (4) being individual events. (Total of six entries moved to eight entries beginning 2023-24 season)
- Entry times must be submitted for all events including aggregate times for relays.
- Each team is allowed unlimited entries per event.
- *Over-entries: Each athlete may enter up to six (6) individual events, but must scratch the events that she does not intend to swim by the scratch deadline.
- **Late Entries are subject to a $250 fine.
Individual Events
Each official individual entrant in the GNAC Championship shall be required to have an NCAA bona fide entry time in all individual championship events. An individual swimming event must be accompanied by an entry time that is certified to be the fastest time achieved in bona fide competition by the competitor during the qualifying period (the current academic year).
Relay Events
All official relay entrants in the GNAC Championship shall be required to have either a NCAA bona fide entry time or an aggregated time. A relay swimming event must be accompanied by an entry time that is certified to be the fastest time achieved in bona fide competition by the competitor during the qualifying period.
Diving Events
All official entrants in the GNAC Championship shall be required to have an NCAA bona fide score for both the one-meter and three-meter boards for their respective entered events. The diver’s scores will be from any bona fide score, including 5 voluntary, 6 optional, or 11 dives. Divers will be entered with the swimming entries. All diving lists must be entered in addition to event entry. Entering diving lists will be based on the facility and programs they use.
*A no time/score for an entrant is allowed for any event (individual or relay) unless petitioned to The Meet Committee.
Challenges
Challenges to entered times at the championship must be made at least 24 hours prior to the first event of the first day of the meet. The meet committee shall address all challenges.
Exhibition Performances
Individuals participating as exhibition swimmers and divers must have an entry time or mark for each event entered. Once a swimmer or diver is declared as an exhibition participant, they are limited to exhibition swims/dives for the entire meet. They are required to be designated as exhibition participants by Thursday’s scratch deadline. Entered participants will continue to be scratched day by day, as is current practice. Exhibition participants are not eligible for finals and scoring points.
Meet Entry Exceptions
Coaches can request an exception for extraordinary circumstances to be reviewed by the Meet Director and the Sport Chair. Once a determination is made, the Meet Director will share it with the coaches and allow for any protests within 24 hours.
Host Responsibilities
- An ATC must be available. Given the large number of student-athletes on the deck, a second ATC will be used and paid for by the associate members.
- The Championship Director/host institution will be responsible for establishing and communicating all entry and scratch deadlines. Entries must be submitted in Hy-Tek. The Championship Director/host institution will be responsible for sending the Hy-tek events file two (2) weeks prior to the meet.
