WINTHROP, Mass. – JWU (Providence) freshman
Grace Jaffray secured her seventh Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week award on Monday. On Tuesday, she was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
Jaffray averaged 31 points and 12 rebounds as JWU went 2-0 last week to improve to 15-2 on the season - their best start to the season in a decade. She opened the week with a 29-point, 12-rebound effort in a win over Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, then scored a game-high 32 points to go with 12 boards in a road win at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday.
The Blue Hill, Maine native has recorded five consecutive double-doubles and is averaging 24.8 ppg and 8.8 rpg through her first 17 collegiate games. Earlier this season, Jaffray was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week after dropping a school-record 43 points on Wheaton (MA) in late November.
The Wildcats (15-2, 6-1 GNAC) host Rivier Saturday at 1 p.m.
