WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Aine Scholand, Simmons (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.)
The senior earned the Bruce Hutchinson Award as the Swimmer of the Meet at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship on February 13-16. Scholand won all three of her events to score the maximum 96 points and became the only swimmer in school history to win all three of her individual events in three different years. She also helped the Sharks win three relay races and place second in another to earn All-NEISDA status in seven events. The New Mexico native won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:05.81 to win by more than 84 seconds and eclipse the NCAA "B" cut qualifying standard. She also won the 500-yard freestyle with a "B" cut time of 4:59.30 to win by more than 21 seconds. Scholand won her third distance event with a mark of 10:15.75 to capture the 1000-yard freestyle by more than 48 seconds. Scholand opened the winning 800-yard freestyle for the Sharks and helped them post a time of 7:57.48 to go with a winning mark of 3:35.32 in the 400-yard freestyle relay that she swam third in. She again swam third in the 200-yard freestyle relay to contribute to the team's first-place time of 1:39.26 and helped Simmons place second in the 400-yard medley relay as the opening backstroke leg to combine on a time of 4:02.78.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Jacob Wyse, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., Broad Brook, Conn.)
Wyse led USJ throughout the weekend, and Sunday was no different, taking fifth place in the 100-yard Individual Medley (IM), while breaking his own school record in the process. Saint Joseph also capitalized on the 400 Freestyle Relay, demolishing the school record set this time last year.

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Eva Piernas, Simmons (Fr., Hopkinton, N.H.)
The first year posted three top-five finishes at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship from February 13-16. The rookie placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:58.92 after earning fifth-place in both the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 11:23.94 and 5:29.69, respectively, to earn All-NEISDA status in all three events.

Wood was the top rookie finisher from the GNAC at NEISDAs, registering 47 points overall after finishing second in the 500 free, fourth in the 200 free, and sixth in the 200 IM. |

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region.
