GNAC Men's Lacrosse Report: Week 3

 

(FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 11-17)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Eric Guinasso, Rivier (Sr., M - Pelham, N.H.)

Guinasso registered nine points on five goals and four assists in the team's only game of the week, a 17-7 win over Northern Vermont - Lyndon. Guinasso converted 55.6 percent of his shots into goals with 88.9 percent on target and scooped up one ground ball.  

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Ian Kriger, Norwich (Sr., GK - Burlington, Mass.)

Kriger made 19 big saves in Norwich's narrow 12-10 victory over Mass. Maritimewhile playing all 60 minutes in goal and stopped 65.5 percent of all shots faced.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

James Anderson, Lasell  (Fr., A - Medway, Mass.)

Collected six points on five goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. He tallied three goals and one assist in a 12-5 win over Eastern Connecticut, and notched two goals in a GNAC victory over Regis. He also picked up five ground balls, three vs. Eastern Conn. and two against Regis.


WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL

Matt Katon, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr., M - East Falmouth, Mass.) - Katon lifted Emmanuel to its first win of the year with a huge afternoon against Albertus Magnus, scoring a program-record six goals to go along with one assists in the Saints 18-4 victory. The senior added a goal earlier in the week vs. Southern Maine for an eight-point week and added five groundballs and three caused turnovers for EC.

Charlie Stutzenberge, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So., M - Plymouth, Mass.) - Stutzenberger set the Emmanuel single-game assists record in EC's 18-4 victory over Albertus Magnus, dishing out a record-setting six helpers to go along with one goal in the win. He added a goal against Southern Maine and on the week collected two groundballs while causing one turnover.

Alex Beauchemin, Lasell (Fr., G - Westfield, Mass.) - Registered a 2-0 record with a 4.00 goals against average, a 57.1 save percentage and eight saves in a pair of Lasell wins. He made five saves on 10 shots in a 12-5 win over Eastern Connecticut, and he made three saves on four shots in the first half of Lasell's GNAC victory over Regis.

Mike Susi, Lasell (Sr., M - Gorham, Maine) - Collected eight points on five goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. He tallied three goals and one assist in a 12-5 win over Eastern Connecticut, and notched two goals and two assists in a GNAC victory over Regis.

Payden Masaracchia, Norwich (So., A - Enola, Pa.) - Six goals, seven points in Norwich's 2-0 week. Picked up a pair of goals and an assist against Mass. Maritime before matching a career-best with four goals against JWU in 2018 GNAC title game rematch.

Brendon Donahue, Regis (Mass.) (So., M/GK - Lynn, Mass.) - Donahue was pressed into emergency duty as the Pride's goalkeeper due to injuries and illnesses. Wednesday against Mitchell, he made 10 saves while facing 18 shots on goal for a .556 save percentage, helping Regis earn an 11-8 victory in its season opener. In the first half, he made five saves while holding the Mariners to just two goals to help the Pride take the early lead. He also made five saves in the second half as Regis held off Mitchell's rally and eventually won the match. Donahue also collected three ground balls and caused one turnover.

Zack Hamilton, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (So., M - Pepperell, Mass.) - Hamilton has been an important player for the Monks, who are off to a 4-2 start to the 2019 season. The sophomore midfielder netted five goals with a pair of assists in two wins last week, including three goals versus Maine Maritime on Wednesday and a two goal, two assist performance in an 11-8 victory over Emerson on Saturday.
