INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.,- Dean College junior forward
Billy Ray Barnes III (Inglewood, Calif,) continued to rack up the accolades, earning United States Basketball Writers of America (USBWA) NCAA Division III National Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Barnes was recognized due to his monster performance a week ago, scoring 27 points, grabbing 18 rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists in a 101-84 victory over the University of New England. Barnes' triple-double was only the third in all of NCAA D-III this season. For his efforts, the 6'3 forward also earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) player of the week honors.
Barnes continued to propel the Bulldogs to success, scoring 19 points and adding five boards in a 79-73 victory over Framingham State on Monday that pushed the Bulldogs record to a program best 8-0.
Dean is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 7 p.m. tip-off in the GNAC opener.
