GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 6

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brian Hogan-Gary, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., G - Staten Island, N.Y.)

BHG produced 30 points for the second game in a row with a season-high 32 on 11-of-25 shooting in a 92-81 win at Rhode Island College last Wednesday. He was 9-of-13 from the FT line and added 13 rebounds for his third straight double-double to go along with five assists, two steals and two blocks. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Taelon Martin, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., G - Springfield, Mass.)

Martin averaged 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.0 minutes per game for the Blue Jays, who went 2-0 down south on their Miami trip before the holiday break. He shot an even 40% (6-15 FG) over the two games, registering 10 points, four boards and two steals at Eastern before contributing six points and six rebounds against Bates.

WEEK 6 HONOR ROLL

Jordan Powell, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., G/F - Middletown, Conn.) - Powell helped power USJ to a 2-0 week down in Miami, averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 66.7% (20-30) as the Blue Jays defeated Eastern, 77-60, on Tuesday before handling Bates, 76-63, on Thursday. He poured in 26 points (12-18 FG) with eight boards, three assists and two blocks against Eastern and followed up with a 20-point (8-12 FG), four-rebound effort against Bates. 

Jaecee Martin, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., G - Hartford, Conn.) - Martin averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals on the Florida trip as USJ beat Eastern and Bates, while shooting 58.8% (10-17) from the floor. He scored just one point (0-5 FG, 1-2 FT) on Tuesday against Eastern but had eight assists (just one turnover) and four steals before pouring in 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting and 5-of-7 from the FT line with three assists against Bates. 

Nicholas Curtis, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - The sophomore poured in 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting, including 6-of-12 from three-point range, in a 66-64 home win over St. John Fisher last Monday. He added four rebounds in 37 minutes of action and knocked down both of his FT attempts.
