MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – After being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, sophomore goalie
Haley Bright earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Defensive Player of the Week announced Wednesday afternoon.
Bright became the first player from the GNAC this season to receive the national recognition as well as the first player since Lasell goalkeeper Courtney Tello earned them last November.
Bright was instrumental in helping the Sharks to their best start to a season in program history with an 11-1 mark following a 2-0 shutout win over Thomas College, where Simmons fended off 10 penalty corners. The Terriers entered last Saturday's contest as the Division III leader in penalty corners and outscored the three other GNAC schools they played, 14-0.
