Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Noah Camelo Nets Game-Winner Against Norwich

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 17, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team earned a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Norwich University on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Colby-Sawyer runs its unbeaten streak to four and improves to 5-6-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers travel to Regis on Saturday for a conference regular season finale. Norwich suffers just its second loss of the season to drop to 9-2-4 overall and 6-2-2 in conference action. The Cadets will host their GNAC regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Suffolk.

Playing on a slick pitch, neither team mustered many chances in the first 45 minutes. Each side finished with three shots.

The Cadets came out of the halftime break with more pace, forcing the issue on the offensive end of the field. On a counter attack 11 minutes into the second, a Cadet raced down the field and was tripped up by Colby-Sawyer's last defender leading to a red card.

Colby-Sawyer was able to limit the Norwich pressure, despite playing a man down for the final 33 minutes of the match, and waited for a chance.

That chance came in the 78th minute when Norwich was whistled for a foul a half yard outside the 18-yard box. Colby-Sawyer senior Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) stepped up to take the kick and bent the ball into the upper right corner for his second game-winner of the season and fifth goal overall.

First-year Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) improved to 4-1-1 for the Chargers and made four saves. Norwich keeper Brendan Germano (Monroe Township, N.J.) had four stops in the loss.

The Cadets had a 10-6 advantage in shots, while Colby-Sawyer had a 6-1 margin in corner kicks.
