Balanced Attack Gives Chargers 84-64 Win at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - November 19, 2019 - Senior Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) scored 24 points on 10-14 shooting to lead the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team to an 84-64 victory at Norwich Tuesday evening.

Tonight's game did not count towards the conference standings. These teams will meet again on Jan. 29 in New London for a GNAC contest.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-1 and will have a week off before returning to the court next Tuesday at Plymouth State. Norwich falls to 0-4.

Bean led the Chargers with 24 points to move into 14th on the all-time list with 1310. He added nine rebounds and two blocks. First-year Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) contributed 14 points and six rebounds, while senior Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists. First-year Scott Lampron (Tilton, N.H.) posted a season best 10 points.

Norwich received a game-high 27 points from Jaydon Cousin. He shot 11-20 in 25 minutes off the bench. Caleb Casinas was second on the team with 13 points, while Donovan Lewis Jr. rounded out the Cadets in double figures with 11.

Colby-Sawyer used the majority of the first half of the opening period to build up a 17-6 lead. Dana Bean notched six points for the visitors during the run.

The teams traded baskets for the rest of the opening frame with the Cadets cutting the lead to nine several times before the horn sounded with the score 38-27 in favor of the Chargers.

Bean and Cousin each recorded 14 points and five rebounds to lead their respective teams at the half.

Each team shot the ball better than 51% in the second half, but Colby-Sawyer held a comfortable lead throughout to cruise to the 20-point victory.

The Cadets cut the lead to eight as Cousin stole the ball and fed sophomore guard Caleb Casinas (Aiea, Hawaii) for a three-pointer making it a 42-34 game with 17:01 still remaining.

That would be the closest the Cadets would get to the lead as Colby-Sawyer rebuilt its cushion and extended it to as many as 22 in the waning moments of the game.

Colby-Sawyer held a 38-34 edge in rebounding and shot 47.8% from the floor, while Norwich was 44.1% from the field.
