NEW HAVEN, Conn. - January 18, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped a back-and-forth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener at 18th ranked Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons improve to 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the GNAC. Colby-Sawyer falls to 6-8 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Chargers travel to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip.

Senior Patrick Coffey led Colby-Sawyer with 23 points. He moved into 10th on the all-time scoring list with 1,413 points. Senior Dana Bean finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Bean climbed up a spot to seventh on the scoring list with 1,477 points. Sophomore Terrence Harvey Jr. also reached double digits with 14 points. He added a game best three steals.

Albertus Magnus received 14 points from Tyreek Perkins. Rob Tindley and Qualon Wilkes contributed 13 points apiece.

The game featured five ties and eight lead changes.

Midway through the second half, a Kyle Landrigan layup put Colby-Sawyer on top by eight, 55-47. Two minutes later, a Wilkes three-point play pulled Albertus even at 56-56. The lead see-sawed over the next few minutes until Patrick Coffey nailed a trey to knot the game at 70-70 with 1:01 showing on the clock. Marquan Watson converted a layup with 36 seconds left and the Falcons added two more free throws down the stretch to escape with a 74-71 win. Coffey made a free throw with a second left and missed the second on purpose, but Albertus came down with the rebound to secure the win.

The home team held a 39-34 lead at the half.

Nearly half of the Falcons' points came at the free throw line. They were 32-of-47, while Colby-Sawyer was 14-of-27. Albertus Magnus' bench was responsible for 38 points.
