BOSTON, Mass. - October 3, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team improved to 5-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with an 8-1 road win at Simmons on Wednesday afternoon.
Today's meeting was the first between the two teams since 2010, when Simmons defeated Colby-Sawyer twice, including in the NCAA First Round.
The Chargers also improve to 6-2 overall and will host Regis on Saturday at 1 p.m. Simmons drops to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
Colby-Sawyer swept doubles action in convincing fashion winning 8-0 at the top flight and 8-1 at No. 2 and No. 3.
Yashu Yang did not drop a game on the way to a victory at No. 1 singles.
Michelle Lopes also won by a 6-0, 6-0 score in her No. 6 match.
Aislinn O'Connor,
Anna Kopituk and
Alexa Conlin won their singles matches in straight sets with only one game dropped.
Simmons' lone point came at the second flight behind strong play from Paola Rios.
