BOSTON, Mass. - October 19, 2019 - Emmanuel scored the game-winning goal with less than seven minutes to play to defeat the Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team, 2-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Saturday afternoon.
Emmanuel improves to 7-8 overall and 6-3 in the GNAC. Colby-Sawyer dips to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Chargers will host Lasell on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
The home team struck first in the 24th minute off the foot of Rachel Prevost. Emmanuel took a 1-0 lead into the half with an 11-3 advantage in shots.
Colby-Sawyer knotted the match at 1-1 in the 63rd minute. First-year
Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.) notched her fifth goal of the season to pull the Chargers even.
Emmanuel was able to find a game-winner at 83:47 when Prevost sent a cross that was put into the back of the net by teammate Natalie Dash.
Lexi Gawron had three saves to earn the win for the Saints. First-year Colby-Sawyer goalie
Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made a season high 12 saves in the loss.
Emmanuel held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
