Women's Soccer Edged in Double Overtime by Regis, 3-2

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 22, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team fell to Regis (Mass.), 3-2, in double overtime in Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Kelsey Field.

Colby-Sawyer drops to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers will look to rebound next Saturday at Albertus Magnus. Regis improves to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Pride host Emmanuel on Wednesday.

Sophomore Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) finished a pass from first-year Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) midway through the second overtime session to lift Regis to the 3-2 come-from-behind victory.

The Chargers led 2-0 in the contest after a first-half goal from senior Natalie Ellard (Rockland, Mass.) and an early second-half goal from junior Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.).

Regis was able to cut the deficit in half in the 52nd minute on Avery Finelli's (Colchester, Vt.) first goal of the season.

With less than five minutes to play in regulation, the Pride benefited from an own goal to knot the score at 2-2.

Neither team could find the game-winner in the first overtime session leading to Fitzgerald's game-winner 5:45 into the second frame.

Regis goalie Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) earned the win with 10 saves. Senior Oona Bond (Southborough, Mass.) had 10 saves in the loss.
