NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 5, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team was edged by Southern New Hampshire of Division II, 5-4, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers dip to 1-2 and will begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at home on Saturday against Suffolk.
Colby-Sawyer took one of the three doubles matches to trail 2-1 heading into singles.
Alexa Conlin and
Hilary Boucher teamed for an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 spot over Elizabeth Dwyer and Phebe Hall.
The Chargers were able to win half of the singles matches, but the Penmen took three of them to earn the required five points to win the match.
Yashu Yang earned an impressive straight-sets victory at the top singles flight over Anna Sala. Yang won 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).
At No. 4,
Anna Kopituk posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rachel Wagner.
Hilary Boucher notched her second point of the match by winning at No. 6. She defeated Abbey Killam 6-1, 6-0.
