NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 6, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team earned an 8-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Regis on a crisp Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Tennis Courts.
The Chargers move to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the GNAC. The team will travel to Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday for a regular season finale with first place in the GNAC standings on the line. Regis drops to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference. They will wrap up the regular season next Saturday at Johnson & Wales.
Colby-Sawyer continued its dominant doubles play and swept all three in convincing fashion.
Yashu Yang and
Anna Kopituk at No. 1 and
Maddy Gemerek and
Aislinn O'Connor at No. 2 won their matches by an 8-2 score.
Yang, Gemerek, O'Connor, Kopituk and
Alexa Conlin each won singles matches in straight sets.
Regis' lone point came at the sixth flight. Ginger Boodakian, sister of former Colby-Sawyer men's tennis student-athlete Dean, earned a three-set victory. She won by scores of 6-4, 2-6 and 10-8.
