Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.) scored twice to lift the Colby-Sawyer field hockey team to a 4-2 season opening victory over Elms College.
Colby-Sawyer, led by first-year head coach
Emily Dewdney, begins the season 1-0 and will host Fitchburg State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Elms goes to 0-1 and will play at Western Connecticut State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Note: Field Hockey has been broken into four quarters of 15 minutes this season.
After a scoreless first quarter, Lanctot gave the home team a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the second frame when she finished a pass from first-year

With less than three minutes to play in the first half, senior

Elms cut the deficit in half, early in the third quarter. Sophomore Erin Thibodeau (East Longmeadow, Mass.) notched an unassisted goal to make the score 2-1.
Colby-Sawyer answered two minutes later when sophomore
Chrissy Coffield (North Conway, N.H.) converted a pass from senior
Alie Jones (Cape Neddick, Maine).
The Blazers pulled within one, once again, early in the fourth quarter. Junior Carissa Ramirez (San Diego, Calif.) set up junior teammate Brittany North (Palmer, Conn.) for a one-timer that found the back of the cage.
Lanctot added an insurance goal, with six minutes to play, off an assist from Coffield.
