NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 29, 2020 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team defeated Norwich, 90-63, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday evening.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers will conclude a four-game homestand on Saturday against Anna Maria at 1 p.m. Norwich falls to 3-15 overall and 0-5 in the conference. The Cadets will look to rebound on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home game against Saint Joseph's of Maine.
Senior
Dana Bean (Franklin, N.H.) led all players with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He added seven rebounds and four assists. Bean moved into sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,550 points and is tied for third in career rebounds with 836. First-year
Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) finished with 18 points and six rebounds. Senior
Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) chipped in 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Sophomore
Terrence Harvey Jr. (Smyrna, Ga.) contributed 14 points, a career-high nine assists and four steals.
Norwich was led by junior Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.). He poured in 16 points. Sophomore Caleb Casinas (Aiea, Hawaii) tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Colby-Sawyer shot 57.6% from the floor in the first half and 7-of-13 (53.8%) from beyond the arc to take a 52-33 at the break. Norwich shot 52.2% in the frame, but was hindered by 13 turnovers that led to 16 Colby-Sawyer points.
The Chargers made 17-of-35 shot attempts in the second and held Norwich to eight made baskets.
Colby-Sawyer outscored the Cadets 46-18 in the paint and won the battle of the boards 37-30.
Norwich ended the game at 39.2%, while Colby-Sawyer finished 52.9%.
