Emmanuel Tops Men’s Volleyball, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team fell to Emmanuel, 3-1, by scores of 21-25, 25-14, 22-25, and 23-25 in non-conference action on Wednesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) posted a match-high 16 kills on 33 swings (.394).

Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) added 13 kills (.435), while Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) chipped in with 10 putaways (.304).

Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) ran the attack behind 42 assists (.433).

Tonight's match featured 21 ties (1 – 10 | 2 – 4 | 3 – 3 | 4 – 4) and 11 lead changes (1 – 6 | 2 – 3 | 3 – 3 | 4 – 4).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Emmanuel broke an 18-18 tie in set one with a 4-1 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • Leading 11-8 in set two, Endicott produced a 12-5 run for the eventual 25-14 victory.
  • Kasprzak highlighted most of the run by holding serve from 9-8 to 16-9.
  • In the fourth, the Saints utilized a 6-2 run to upend a 15-15 and held on to clinch the win.
  • Endicott rallied back into the match to the tune of 23-21 and 24-22 deficits before Emmanuel pulled away.
  • Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) compiled a team-high six digs (4-6 led to kills) and went 20-for-21 (.952) on serve-receive.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (0-2) hosts MIT on Thursday, February 2 at 7 PM. Emmanuel (3-1) takes on Misericordia (4 PM) Medaille (6 PM) on Friday, January 27.
