NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 14, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team defeated Division II Saint Anselm, 7-2, at the Kelsey Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.

The win marks the second time this season that the Chargers have beaten a team from the Northeast-10 Conference. In March, Colby-Sawyer defeated Saint Michael's 7-2. The Chargers improve to 7-9 and will wrap up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season action at home on Saturday against Johnson & Wales.

Alex Wright (St. Austell, Cornwall, England) and Julius Lowman (Bavaria, Germany) combined for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles over Ethan Hall and Michael Rosen. The Saint Anselm duo of Daniel Kmetz and Sam Kluger defeated Matt Burke (Milford, Conn.) and Erik Antonacci (Bolton, Vt.) by an 8-3 score at No. 2 doubles. The Hawks defaulted at No. 3 doubles to give the Chargers a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.

Wright edged Hall at the top singles flight 7-6 (7-4) and 6-4. He now has 94 career victories to rank third all-time, while he sits in second in singles wins with 53 and sixth in doubles victories with 41.

Colby-Sawyer's Mike White (Woburn, Mass.) and Julius Lowman picked up 6-2, 6-4 victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Saint Anselm's lone singles point came from Kmetz who defeated Burke 7-5 and 6-3.

The Hawks defaulted at No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles to account for the 7-2 final.
