NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 29, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 9-0 victory over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers move to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The team will travel to Simmons on Wednesday for an important GNAC tilt. The Blue Jays fall to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action. USJ will play at Suffolk on Wednesday.
Colby-Sawyer swept all three doubles matches in convincing fashion to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Maddy Gemerek and
Aislinn O'Connor at No. 1 and
Yashu Yang and
Alexa Conlin at No. 2 each won their matches by an 8-1 score.
Michelle Lopes and
Amira Eid came away with an 8-3 triumph over Carolyn Callahan and Jessica McAllister at the third spot.
The Chargers continued their great play in singles play by winning each match in straight sets. O'Connor and Conlin each won their No. 3 and No. 4 matches, respectively, without dropping a game. With today's two victories, O'Connor moved into a tie for fourth on the all-time wins list with 107.
