Rivier Tops Women's Volleyball 3-2

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 27, 2012 – The Rivier University women's volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 3-2 victory at Colby-Sawyer on Thursday evening.

Rivier, who won by scores of 25-23, 19-25, 13-25, 25-19 and 15-8, improves to 10-3 on the season, while Colby-Sawyer dips to 5-9.

Rivier senior outside hitter Kenna Finlayson (Derry, N.H.) led all players with 24 kills. She added 16 digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) collected 32 assists and eight digs. Junior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, R.I.) had a match best eight blocks.

Junior Courtney O'Hara (Mystic, Conn.) led the Chargers with 20 kills. Sophomore Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) also reached double-figures with 11 kills. Freshman setter Laura Smolinski (Hebron, Conn.) recorded a match-high 37 assists. Junior Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, Mass.) had a team-high 22 digs.

Colby-Sawyer travels to Maine this weekend to begin North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. The team will play Maine-Farmington, Lyndon and Johnson at the University of Maine-Farmington. Rivier heads to Maryland for a pair of matches with Salisbury and Virginia Wesleyan.
