LaRiviere Named Academic All-District

Emmanuel College's senior cross country and track & field team captain Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) was selected to The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1st Team.  Lariviere's most recent honor was officially announced on June 4, 2009. The Academic All-District selections are nominated and voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  The selections make up first and second teams from the college and university divisions of eight different districts nationwide.  Lariviere was one of just ten women chosen from the college division in the New England/New York region of the country.

Nominees for this prestigious honor must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), must be of at least sophomore status, and must be a starter or important reserve on his or her sports team.  Lariviere easily met the specified criteria.  After a standout cross country season, which garnered her 6-straight GNAC Runner of the Week selections and GNAC Runner of the Year honors, Lariviere went on to set numerous records on the track during her indoor and outdoors senior seasons.  Subsequently, she received Emmanuel's senior Student-Athlete Achievment Award and was named to the NCAA Division III U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Women’s All-Academic Team.

Over her four years in the classroom at Emmanuel, Lariviere has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average.  The graduating senior class president was an Elementary Education and Liberal Arts major, while earning 12 varsity letters and captaining 3 different teams.  Lariviere is also Emmanuel's first-ever NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.
