Mapusaga Named ECAC Division III New England Volleyball Co-Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – University of Saint Joseph (CT) junior Tiffany Mapusaga has been named the ECAC Corvias Division III New England Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Mapusaga, who was recognized as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, had 44 kills with only nine hitting errors on 103 swings for an outstanding .340 hitting percentage in a 2-0 week last week.  The Waianae, Hawaii native averaged 4.89 kills and 3.00 digs per set.

She had 18 kills in a 3-1 win over Mitchell and 26 in a five-set thriller against Simmons to open GNAC play. In the fifth set alone against Simmons, she had six kills, no errors and seven digs. Mapusaga also had 27 digs and seven aces in the two matches as USJ improved to 3-2 overall. 

Mapusaga shared the weekly honor with Bowdoin College's Christy Jewett.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
