BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons Tennis team defeated the Emerson College Lions 6-3 on Sunday afternoon to claim their fourth consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship and complete their undefeated season, 10-0.
Simmons College secured first place with an undefeated conference record of 8-0 and overall record of 11-4. The Sharks were 2008, 2009 and 2010 GNAC Champions and have entered the tournament the past three seasons in the top seed in the tournament.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Simmons Tennis defeated the Emerson College Lions 6-3 on Saturday on the courts at MIT to remain undefeated in the GNAC. The young Lions showed talent and poise, taking some tough matches from the Sharks, but their effort was unsuccessful. The Sharks moved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the GNAC while the Lions are now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in GNAC conference action.
Allan “Doc” Freedman has been head coach of women’s tennis at Johnson and Wales for the past 9 years. He was a player on the U.S. Naval Reserve Goodwill Team and at college where he was the fourth seed and recorded a 71% win record.
