WORCESTER, Mass. - Both the Norwich Men's and Women's Teams reamin at the top of team rankings through two days at the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming & Diving Championships as the Men lead with 337 points and the Women lead with 635.
In the Men's competition, Norwich took home gold in seven of the nine events tonight, starting with the 200 yard medley relay as the quartet of Martin Adlianitski, Kristian Adlianitski, Drew Bylow, and Will Thompson touched the wall first at a time of 1:26.44. This time the group of Bylow, M. Adlianitski, Andrew Clark and Adrian Riendeau capped the night off in the 800 yard medley relay at 7:11.14. Clark won the 500 Yard Freestyle for the Cadets (4:51.22) while Riendeau collected two in the 50 Yard Backstroke at 24.27 and the 100 IM (54.86). Kristian Adlianitski swam to gold in the 50 Yard Freestyle (21.48) while Thompson collected the final victory for the Cadets in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:11.76).
Regis leaped into the second spot with 135 points after two first-place finishes from Liam Austin and Cody Werner. Austin scored a 307.85 in the one meter diving competiton while Werner touched the wall first in the 100 Yard Butterfly at 52.51. The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) stands at third with 124 points.
In the Women's Competition, Norwich kicked off the finals with a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as the quartet of Alannah Kelliher, Brandy Lewis, Deanna Parot, and Jenna Tschida swam a 1:42.69. Reilly Laitala also earned a victory for the Cadets as she won the one meter diving competition at 386.10. Lewis capped the final victory for Norwich in the 500 Yard Freestyle at a time of 5:24.33.
Simmons collected the most event victories of the night with four. Carli Quinlan scored gold twice individually in the 100 Yard Butterfly (57.71) and the 50 yard freestyle (24.51) while Camelia Hannah won the 50 yard Backstroke for the Sharks at 28.92. The relay team of Quinlan, Bee Eckels, Anna Kelly, and Isabel Barry-Ruiz capped off an incredible night for Simmons as they swam a 8:19.09, only trailing Norwich on the leaderboards with 588 points.
Albertus Magnus' Silvia Valeria Avila Estrada collected once again another gold medal, totaling her victories to three after she swam a 2:34.69 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Olivia Luhnau earned an event victory for Regis as she swam a 1:02.99 in the 100 Yard IM.
The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) placed third with 342 points after two days followed by Regis (340), Saint Joseph's (Maine) (323), Elms (186), and Albertus Magnus (147).
The final day of championships take place tomorrow as preliminaries start at 10 AM and the Finals will begin at 5 PM where eight events will take place and the 2025 GNAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving Champions will be crowned and the swimming major awards will be announced at the end of the meet.
