GNAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 6

(FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 1-7)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Erika Badger, Lasell (Sr., M - Scituate, Mass.)

Collected two goals and one assist, with one game-winning goal, in a 2-0 week for Lasell with a pair of GNAC wins. She scored Lasell's third goal Wednesday in a 3-2 conference win over Saint Joseph's College (Maine), at the time putting the Lasers up 3-0 in the first half, and assisted on Lasell's second goal and scored the third, all in the first half, in a 3-0 GNAC win Saturday at Simmons University.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Colleen Lynch, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., GK - New Milford, Conn.)

Lynch did not allow a goal in a pair of conference victories as she stopped all seven shots she faced... Recorded a victory against Colby-Sawyer to start the week then went on the road to beat Norwich, 2-0 ... Ran her scoreless streak to 313 minutes.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kaylee Francis, Regis (Mass.) (Fr., M/F - Millis, Mass.)

Francis scored in each of Regis's victories over the past week, pushing the Pride back over .500 in league play. Wednesday, she scored the first goal of the match six minutes into the contest and then assisted on the Pride's fourth goal in Regis's 4-1 victory over Albertus Magnus. Saturday, she scored the final goal of the contest as Regis easily defeated Anna Maria. Francis leads the Pride with seven goals and 17 total points, currently tied for ninth in goals and eighth in points in the GNAC. She is also tied for the team lead with three assists this season.  


WEEK 6 HONOR ROLL 

Kayla Generis, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr., F - Wethersfield, Conn.) Generis scored two goals to go along with two assists for six points on the week for Emmanuel. The senior netted the lone goal vs. USJ and followed it up with a four-point game vs. Colby-Sawyer with a goal and two assists in EC's 5-1 win. 

Angela Sanzari, Lasell (Fr., GK - North Haven, Conn.) Posted a 2-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average, a .778 save percentage and one shutout in a 2-0 week for Lasell with a pair of GNAC wins. She made three saves on five shots Wednesday in a 3-2 conference win at Saint Joseph's College (Maine), and made four saves for her second shutout of the season Saturday in a 3-0 GNAC win at Simmons University.

Payton Fitzgerald, Regis (Mass.) (So., F - Danielson, Conn.) Fitzgerald led the Regis offense with three goals for six total points as the Pride earned two key conference victories over the past week. Wednesday, she helped put the game away against Albertus Magnus with two second half goals, one less than four minutes into the second half and the other midway through the half. It was her second multi-goal match of the season and the third two-goal performance in her career. Saturday, she contributed a goal on her only shot of the match as Regis cruised to a victory at Anna Maria. Fitzgerald is now second on the team with six goals and 13 points this season. 

Sarah Palko, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., M - Southington, Conn.) Palko netted a pair of goals to help the Blue Jays go 2-0 and earn two crucial GNAC victories on the week and stay in the playoff hunt. The veteran scored the third and fourth goals against Rivier at home on Saturday to build a comfortable 4-0 lead over the Raiders in an eventual 5-1 victory. USJ is now 5-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the GNAC and sits on the doorstep in ninth place in the GNAC standings.

Allison Rodrigues, Suffolk (Fr., GK - North Andover, Mass.) Rodrigues made 15 stops in goal, including nine in a 0-0 road stalemate at Simmons University. She posted a 0.90 GAA with .882 save percentage in a 0-1-1 week for the Rams.
