Rivier's Cohoon, Norwich's Brux Receive ECAC New England Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Rivier University sophomore Maggie Cohoon has been named the ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Norwich University freshman Amanda Brux received Rookie of the Week honors from the ECAC.

The two student-athletes were named the GNAC Women's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the league office on Monday.

Cohoon was named MVP of the Husson University Classic scoring four goals and two assists for a total of 10 points. She recorded a hat trick and two assists in Rivier's 5-1 win over UMaine- Presque Isle. Cohoon, a Derry, N.H. native, then scored the game-winner against Husson to help lead Rivier to a 1-0 win and the tournament title. 

Brux scored the game-tying goal with 1:26 left in regulation and then added the game-winning goal with just under four minutes to play in double-overtime to lift Norwich to a 2-1 victory over Lyndon State. The Dousman, Wis. native added another goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Johnson State.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
