
Suffolk Women's Soccer Honored by NSCAA for Ethics/Sportsmanship
The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team was awarded a Gold medal for Ethics/Sportsmanship by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2008 season. Suffolk was one of seven winners of this award which was handed out to both men's and women's college programs across the country. This group included NCAA Divisions I, II, and III as well as NJCAA and NAIA programs. Suffolk's women were the only NCAA Division III program in New England to earn this honor.
The awards will be given out to the recipients at the NSCAA/Adidas College Coaches Awards Reception on Thursday, January 15 in St. Louis, MO. The Ethics/Sportsmanship Award is one of the most difficult to achieve in the entire NSCAA awards program.
Teams who receive no red cards may be nominated for the Team Ethics Award, with the Gold Award going to teams who accumulate no cards at all, the Silver Award for teams with 1-5 yellow cards and the Bronze Award for those with 6-10 yellow card
Freshman Leslie Hayden (Ross, CA) was named to the Great
Northeast Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship team for the 2008
season. Hayden was also named Rookie of the Year in the GNAC.
