Two GNAC Womens Soccer Players Named To NSCAA All-Region Team
Two GNAC juniors, Kate McKenna (Holyoke, Mass.) from Emmanuel
College and Ashley Sanford (Holden, Maine) from GNAC Championship
team of Norwich, were named to the 2008 National Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) All New England Region team.
McKenna, a midfielder who was named to both the GNAC
All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team for 2008, was
named to the NSCAA All New England Region third team. McKenna led
Emmanuel to an overall record of 14-9-0 and a GNAC record of 9-3-0.
McKenna netted 11 goals and dished out 9 assists, while starting in
all 23 of the Saints’ games.
Sanford, a defender who was named 2008 GNAC Defensive Player and
also a GNAC All-Conference First Team selection, was named to the
NSCAA All New England Region fourth team. Sanford led Norwich to
the program’s first Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Championship this year and the Cadets’ first-ever NCAA

and 9-2-1 in conference play. Sanford was an instrumental
