MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The third time was the charm for the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team, as the Wildcats collected the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history by downing Morrisville State University, 17-8, on Saturday at Middlebury College. 

Records:
Morrisville State: 14-6
Johnson & Wales: 17-4

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales moves on to the second round where it will face the national number one seed, Middlebury, at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The nation's number four offense wasted little time in getting on the board as sophomore Dani Lydecker scored twice in the first 90 seconds of the game.

Courtney Cavellier broke through for the Mustangs at the 25:05 mark, but the Wildcats responded with a 6-0 run that included four goals from Allison Pazienski.

Pazienski became the first player in school and GNAC history to score 100 goals. She has 105 goals on the year, ranking her 10th on the NCAA single season charts.

JWU found the net three more times to take a 12-3 lead into the locker room. Johnson & Wales outshot the Mustangs, 21-5, in the opening 30 minutes and had an 18-8 advantage in ground balls.

Morrisville scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the second half to cut the margin to 13-6. The Wildcats answered with three of their own to extend their lead back to 16-6.

Sophomore goalie Cassidy O'Hara made six saves to set the JWU all-time record with 230 saves.

The Wildcats ended the game with a 39-16 shot advantage as well a 27-20 margin for ground balls.
