CoSIDA RELEASE

STANDISH, Maine – The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by CoSIDA, have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior lacrosse standout Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has been honored.

Caiazzo has been named to the 10-member District 1 Team, which features student-athletes from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. She is now eligible for even higher honors, as Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.

Caiazzo, a Political Science & Environmental Science major at Saint Joseph's, netted 59 goals with nine assists for 68 total points with 58 ground balls, 103 draw controls, and 21 caused turnovers in 16 games this this season. She is the first SJC women's lacrosse player to collect Academic All-District® accolades.

The 2015 GNAC Rookie of the Year, 2017 GNAC Player of the Year, and four-time All-Conference honoree graduated as the owner of 14 team records, including the top marks for career goals (263), points (319), and free-position goals (51).

She became the first SJC player to surpass the 300-point plateau after netting four goals in a 20-10 victory over Norwich on April 7th.

Caiazzo finished her final collegiate season ranked fourth among active NCAA DIII players in career goals (263), ninth in ground balls (242), and 10th in total points (319).

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.

Nominated by Sports Information Directors at their respective institutions, athletes from 26 different collegiate sports are eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large honors: Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Crew/Rowing, Men's and Women's Fencing, Women's Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, and Men's Wrestling.
