Women's Basketball: Brewster named to NEWBA Second Team after offensive showcase

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Fresh off a dominant offensive showing last week, Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.) of the Norwich University women's basketball team was tabbed to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second Team, as announced by the league office this afternoon.

Brewster's NEWBA recognition is the second for her this season after the junior landed a spot on the NEWBA First Team back on Nov. 21, 2023.

Brewster was an offensive weapon in a 1-1 showing for the Cadets, first shooting 40.0% from the floor to finish with 13 points in a narrow loss at Regis College, while hauling down seven caroms and dishing out four helpers.

She followed that up by pouring in a season-high 35 points in Norwich's 103-32 win over Dean College, going 13-23 from the floor with seven three-pointers while tallying seven boards, five assists, and two steals.

The junior averaged 24.0 points on the week on a 50.0% FG clip and 42.1% 3PT mark.  Brewster's 13-made field goals against Dean are a career-best, while her seven three-pointers tied her career-high mark against Anna Maria from Jan. 24, 2022.  Brewster's 35-point outing against Dean was just one point shy of tying her career-high set against Vermont State University Johnson on Nov. 19, 2021.  Brewster was tabbed to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor roll on Monday for her offensive prowess last week.

Brewster and the Cadets return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24, when they host Colby-Sawyer College in a marquee GNAC showdown at 7:00 p.m. in Andrews Hall.
