GNAC Basketball Trio Receives ECAC Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Three student-athletes received Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England weekly basketball honors this week. Albertus Magnus College freshman Olivia Bolden (pictured) garnered ECAC Women's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week recognition, while Albertus Magnus senior Victor Ljuljdjuraj was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Johnson & Wales University freshman Jarell Lawson earned Rookie of the Week honors. 

Bolden earned her second ECAC honor of the season after earning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this year. In a 1-1 week, Bolden averaged 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting 48.6 percent (17-35 FG) from the floor. She had a game-high 26 points with 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season on Saturday in a win over Lasell and had 18 points and 10 boards in a road loss at Emmanuel.

Ljuljdjuraj of the No. 9 nationally ranked Falcons collected his ECAC honor after being named the GNAC Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. The Yorktown Heights, N.Y. native averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 6.0 blocks in a 2-0 week.

The senior earned two double-doubles with a 19-point, 10-block effort in an 84-58 win over Emmanuel before contributing 24 points and 11 rebounds in a 109-90 victory over Lasell.  Against the Saints, he added six rebounds and four assists, while on Saturday, he shot 63.6% from the floor with 14-made field-goals.

For Lawson, who earned GNAC Rooke of the Week honors for the second straight week and third time this season, landed his second ECAC honor of the 2014-15 campaign. The rookie helped lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, averaging 10.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while registering just 18.5 minutes per contest. He notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a 85-62 win over Mount Ida and contributed seven points and seven boards earlier in the week in a win over Norwich.
