Seven GNAC Student-Athletes Receive NFCA Softball All-Northeast Regional Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Seven student-athletes from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) have received 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Softball All-Northeast Region honors, as announced by the NFCA this week.

Emmanuel College placed a pair on the Northeast Region First Team in sophomore pitcher Jill Kilcoyne (pictured) and junior shortstop Catherine Davis. Both received All-GNAC First Team honors and Kilcoyne was voted as the GNAC Pitcher of the Year this spring.

Kilcoyne struck out 183 in 131.2 innings pitched, while going 13-7 with a 1.59 ERA and 16 complete games in 20 starts. Davis led the Saints in virtually every offensive category, including hitting (.427), OBP (.486), slugging (.669), runs (39), doubles (13), homers (5) and RBI (30).

Johnson & Wales University junior catcher Kristen Solari was the third GNAC player to take home First Team honors, as she hit .472 with a .511 OBP, 29 runs, 10 doubles and 34 RBI.

Johnson & Wales freshman starting pitcher Jennifer Corona receive Second Team honors, as the righthander went 18-9 in 24 starts with 17 complete games, a 2.69 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 166.2 innings pitched. 

Joining Corona on the Second Team was Albertus Magnus College freshman infielder Gillian Fortier and Suffolk University freshman catcher Delaney Sylvester.

Fortier, the 2015 GNAC Player and Rookie of the Year, slashed .464/.500./696 in her freshman campaign, and also scored 39 runs and drove in 32.

Sylvester meanwhile also had an incredible rookie season, hitting .402 with ninie double, three triples, four homers, 29 runs and 30 RBI. 

Rounding out the GNAC honorees recognized regionally was Simmons College junior second baseman Mikaela Caracciolo. She hit .382 with a .484 OBP and .618 slugging percentage for the Sharks, hitting five home runs with 29 RBI. 

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
