PAXTON, Mass. — Athletic Director Laura Habacker announced the hiring of Danielle Delponte as the new head softball coach at Anna Maria College.

"I'm really excited about the experience Danielle brings AMC," Habacker said. "I think that when you look at her knowledge of NCAA Division III softball and what it will take to be successful in the GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) along with her recruiting ability, she will be an excellent match with our program."

A former Division I player at the University of Connecticut, Delponte most recently served as the head coach at Daniel Webster College for two seasons, where she worked with all facets of the program including recruiting, designing daily practices and conditioning programs for the student athletes as well as educating players on game situations. Delponte also served as the Senior Women Administrator for the athletic department.

During her time at Daniel Webster College, Delponte led the Eagles to their most successful season in program history in 2012, touting a 23-20 record to earn the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year honors.

Delponte encourages all-around success in her student athletes. Three Eagles were named to the NECC All-Academic team, while seven players earned all-conference accolades during her two-year tenure.

Delponte previously served as an assistant coach at Boston College (2011) with primary oversight in recruiting and compliance. She began her college coaching career at Springfield College during the 2009 season, directing the development of the pitchers and catchers, recruiting prospective student athletes and handling all fund raising opportunities.

As a collegiate softball player, Delponte still ranks in the top ten in career home runs and RBI at UConn. In 2008, she was named to the Big East All-Tournament Team and earned the prestigious UConn Scholar Athlete Award.

The Tewksbury, Mass. native is a 2009 graduate of University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in education. She received her master's degree in sports management and recreation from Springfield College in 2011.
